Town of Lake Hamilton US-27 Water Main Relocations
Steven L. Elias, PE - Project Director
Daniel Magro, PE - Project Engineer
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) had plans to widen U.S. 27 from a four-lane to a six-lane divided highway in the summer of 2007, primarily through the Town of Lake Hamilton’s Utility Service Area. This FDOT Project required the relocation of several Town water lines away from the proposed travel lanes, swales and storm water structures. The scope of improvements that were constructed with this Project included:
1,500 linear feet of 10-inch water main;
600 linear feet of 8-inch water main; and
Removal of approximately 2,000 feet of existing water lines.
Services provided by Envisors included preliminary design, final design, permitting, and construction administration services for this Project. Envisors preliminary design services included a red-green-brown plan mark-up for FDOT, to determine the extent of the necessary utility relocations by comparing the location of the Town’s existing utilities to the FDOT Construction Drawings. Final design services included preparing construction plans, maintenance of traffic plan, technical specifications, and bidding documents.
Envisors prepared, submitted, and processed all necessary permit approvals for this Project, including FDOT right-of-way use, FDEP wastewater line construction, and Polk County Health Department water line construction permits.
Envisors performed construction observation and contract administration services throughout the entire construction period. Envisors documented the Contractor’s progress, conducted construction meetings, processed project correspondence (i.e.: pay requests, requests for information, change orders, etc.), witnessed piping pressure tests, prepared Record Drawings, coordinated with FDOT, and obtained certifications from the permitting agencies to place the new facilities into service.
