R.A. Florida Development, Inc. (RAFD) purchased approximately 300 acres of citrus grove on each side of Adams Barn Road in Polk County for development as a 650-unit single family residential community. In order to accommodate the proposed subdivision, RAFD agreed to improve one mile of Adams Barn Road from an old substandard grove road, which was maintained by Polk County and served as the dividing line between the cities of Auburndale and Lake Alfred. The improved roadway is now a divided urban and rural condition boulevard with traffic calming devices, sidewalks, swales, curbing, irrigation, super elevated curves, stamped concrete, and xeric and non-xeric landscaping elements.
Envisors was originally retained by RAFD to conduct the surveying, design, permitting, construction observation, and certification phase engineering services for the residential tracts along the west side (Phase I) of Adams Barn Road and all of the offsite utility extensions to serve Phase I and Phase II. After the work was initiated on the site development design, RAFD requested Envisors to also handle the surveying and engineering effort for the Adams Barn Road improvements.
Also included in the project elements were two new roundabout intersections to serve the proposed residential development and existing neighboring areas, the relocation of existing utilities, the addition of water mains, force mains, drainage conveyance systems, retention/detention ponds, ditch blocks and swales, and a potable water interconnect between the two cities. Our contract also included the coordination, design, permitting, construction observation, and certification phase services for the Project to include landscaping, irrigation system, intersection improvements, drainage system improvements and the utility extensions and relocations.
